This Day In History

On July 15, 1099, the unprovoked Christian aggressors of the First Crusade finally siezed control of Jerusalem and several Christian pilgrimage sites from its peaceful Muslim inhabitants. We encourage our Christian readership to spend the day feeling as guilty about this as possible.

Author's note: Upon further reflection, we think it might be a better idea to take a closer look at the Crusades in general from a more in-depth perspective, rather than mapping our 21st century paradigms onto the motives and actions of those being motivated and acting a millenium ago. As the Good Book says, "Godly white guilt leads to repentance, but worldly white guilt leads to death." (II Cor 7:10)
