An Iraqi Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Church will have the following to communicate to President George W. Bush during his visit to the West Bank today:
"I think that if he knew how may people have been killed because of his policies (here, in Iraq and in Afghanistan) he would be very sad," the archbishop (Elias Chacour) said, adding that he "would not hurt his feelings."Here we have a model for the proper response to our multiple cultural and military evils committed over the past several years. Thank God for the charity displayed by Archbishop Chacour, even as we Americans tend to exhibit not-unsolicited-criticism of American foreign policy. Saint Maron, pray for them.
"That would not be polite to do," he added.
